The first profile I looked at was Kims and I learned that she like me loves the movie wedding crashers and has an I’m sure adorable pit-bull who she loves to play with. From reading her assignment about Paulo Freire I learned more on how specifically he believed that education should be taught. She talked about how everyone should relate to what they are learning about on a personal level and not just be lectured and taught things just so they can regurgitate them on test and essays. A student really needs to understand what they are learning and why it is important. Also as I was reading her last paragraph I learned that I hadn’t really thought about the world as she did. I agreed with her theory of the world always changing and that the way people are educated needs to be changing along with the times as technology and people evolve and progress.
The next profile I looked at was Renee’s and I learned that she has three children and is fascinated by old coins. From reading her assignment I learned that Paulo Freire taught 300 sugarcane workers to read and write in only 45 days! That is absolutely amazing! That was all while he was imprisoned for being a traitor. Also I learned that, as random as this sounds, that Paulo’s wife Elza also helped him in all of his endeavors. That part of this history was very vague from the sources that I looked at but I’m glad to know it now.
